Title: Increase Send Timeout?
Post by: paahuus on October 06, 2014, 04:36:54 pm
I had a bad reception last weekend, and could not get a message sent until I was back in a Wifi. Message was "Network Error". It was a little strange, because Websites opened slow, but opened.

I checked the log and found an error, that makes me think it was all timeout related:

2014.10.04 21:16:56.332 +0200   AquaMail   [TASKS.216] ***** ERROR: IOException caught in processTask for [org.kman.AquaMail.mail.smtp.SmtpTask_Send@42ed2bb0, content://org.kman.AquaMail.data/accounts/1/out/8238157]
java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out

I searched the settings for a smtp  timeout setting, but was either blind or it does not exist :-) any advice if and where I can increase the timeout next time?
Or please correct me if I am wrong and this problem has nothing to do with a timeout at all. Thanks!

There are no timeout settings - the app uses same values as K9 -- which is 30 seconds when connecting, and 60 seconds when sending or reading data.

Trouble with having large timeout values is, potentially higher battery use when the connection is weak.
