Hello everybody,

Would you please describe your five accounts : server name, Push or not, Sync settings?
The accounts are different. Two Ms Exchange Servers with three different Accounts, One Google, and one other free mail account.
IMAP Push is activated. Normally I have an intervall for Mailchecking. At two accounts I have an different intervall for mailsyncing.
Whats exactly the issue? What do you want us to confirm?
My hope was that someone else has the same problem.
> every message is notificated in the message center
What's your expected behavior here?
I just want to have one notification message in my messagecenter of the android device.
divide alerts is deactivated.
Thanks in advance.

If you wish to get only one notification for all your accounts, you must:
- Enable Smart Folder (app settings -> Smart Folder)
- "Unifier les notifications" (Use smart folder for notifications, to be selected in app settings -> Smart Folder)
- and be sure that every account inbox is displayed in Smart folder (long press on account name -> options and folders -> folders, then select "show in Smart folder" in the folder settings.
Hi,
it's exactly configured like this and since the last update i get notifications on every message like discribed in my first message.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards

I am not sure if this could be related, but just in case:
You mentioned your phone is Samsung. By any chance, do you have Samsung's Gear app installed?
(In case you are not sure, click on this link and see if it says "installed": https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager . Do that either from the device, or from the browser where you are logged in your device's Google account.)

You're getting a notification when a new message arrives: this is the expected behavior.
Now if you are using Smart Folder to unify your notifications, and you're getting separate notifications (one by account), this is a behavior I am not able to reproduce (Note 5, Nexus 6).
Would you please post screenshots of your multiple notifications to be sure that we have narrowed down the issue?
Thanks
Hi,
attached you can find the Screenshots.

Thank you. What's your Android version and ROM?
Hi,
please find this information in the attached Screenshot.

Bizarre. And I'm unable to reproduce using a Galaxy S6 Edge (with 6.0.1 though).
Yes, I'm sure it is related to the recent change in AquaMail to enable Android Wear style (individual) notifications on Gear watches.
Do you have the Gear app installed?

Hi,
yes it is installed by default.

Um, my S6 Edge is too.
What it is with Samsung, why does touching anything Samsung specific has to have such horrible consequences?
---
Is your Gear app up to date? Because this looks like a bug in that Gear app, it mishandles Android Wear "enhancements" in Aqua's notifications.
Can you check and if not, update?
Can you reboot the phone too, to see if the issue persists?

The gear APP is up to date.
Mhmmm, strange. Now I turned of the special Sync Settings on the two affected Accounts, waited a while and turned it on again.
Now it seems to be gone :o
-
Good, glad to hear it.
Please let me know if it comes back again -- I may have to ask for a debug log or exact "special" settings...
-
Hi,
it seems to be back. But only from time to time.
It seems, that the problem normaly exists, if I refresh the folders manually by gesture.
Now it exists on a folder with no special sync settings.

OK.
It has to be a side effect of "Android Wear - enhancing" Aqua's notifications when the Gear app is installed.
And since the app is preinstalled at least on S6 - S7, it does not necessarily mean that you own the watch...
Not to mention that happens *on the phone* (not the watch).

What do you recommend?
Should I provide a setting to turn off Wear enhancements even if Gear app is present?

Should I provide a setting to turn off Wear enhancements even if Gear app is present?
That sounds like a reasonable workaround for Samsung's shortcoming.
I don't know if that setting could be conditional on the presence of Gear app. I also don't know if Gear can be installed on a non-Samsung device. If it cannot, - that option can be conditional on the device maker.
One more thought, - considering the ratio (at this point) of those who own and who don't own the watch, - you might think if the default should be the enhancement switched off, and then an option to turn it on if one uses a watch.

Yes, I've thought of that...
Now there are people already using the watch, how to MAKE them read the changelogs and/or the FAQ?
( help, my Gear notifications disappeared, and I liked them so much )
-
Alternatively, - you'd have users like the OP here, who will be asking how to do that. And that would be going forward, while the option for the watch has existed for just a couple of weeks.
In any case, that's your judgement call. I can only offer ideas and arguments for consideration. :)
-
Yes, you're right, problem is:
There might more users experiencing this, I mean just look at all the discussions about "duplicate Gear notifications" from Facebook, Gmail, WhatsApp, etc.
And I can't count on everyone to be as clever (he found the forum!) and understanding (he didn't write "piece of shit app"!) as @Airwave.

@Airwave
Please try this version where Gear enhancements are OFF by default:

Hello everybody,
the problem seems to bei back from time to time.
I think it comes with the last update.
Any idea?

Haven't changed notifications in a long time.
Has your Samsung Gear app had any updates recently?
Will this help like it did last time?
Now I turned of the special Sync Settings on the two affected Accounts, waited a while and turned it on again.
Now it seems to be gone
-
Hi,
I've done and waiting...
It is also very strange, that this doesn't occure every time I got s new message.
Last Update of gear App was ar 4.7.2016. Not sure how long this problem occurs again.
I try to deactivate thr gear app, now. I dont need the app, but I cannot uninstall it because no root.
Regards
Marc

You could also disable aquamail settings -> message notifications -> smart watch enhancement (unless you need it for e.g. Android Wear).
