Title: Alternative email addresses for Office365 account
Post by: philled on December 28, 2013, 07:56:04 pm
I have just set up Aquamail for my Office365 account and so far so good. When I use OWA, the web interface to Office365 email, I can send emails from different email addresses that have been "approved" for my Office365 account.

If I purchase Aquamail Pro will I be able to send emails from these alternative email addresses by setting up identities? I've noticed there is no option to set up identities for my Office365 account in Aquamail.

Has anyone actually got sending from different addresses to work in Aquamail for an Office365 account? I haven't got this working in any of the other Android email apps I've tried, so I'm trying to find one that works. I'm hoping Aquamail could be the one!

Hello,

There is no support for identities for EWS accounts right now -- because I just don't know how to set them up server side and how they're supposed to work.

If you can clarify that, I can look into it.

I do have an Exchange Online account for tests (Office 365 without Office).

OK, I'm on holidays at the moment so when I get back in January I'll send through details of how to set them up in Office365. Is that what you need?

Yes, exactly - since it appears that you are already using them.

This is how to set up alternative "send from" accounts in Office365. They are known as "Connected Accounts" and further information can be found at the following URL (sorry, it won't let me post a proper URL):

community.office365.com/en-us/blogs/office_365_community_blog/archive/2011/06/09/getting-start-with-connected-accounts.aspx.

(That article is a couple of years old and says that connected account mailboxes are polled hourly. That has since improved and in my experience they seem to be polled every 10 minutes).

My short description of how to set them up is:

HTH. Let me know if you need any more info. I'd be very glad to help out by testing etc if you like.

Thanks, I was able to set up a connected account, guess that's a start.

Hi there, did you manage to make any progress on this? Is there any testing I can do to help?

Unfortunately, no. Things have been difficult for the last three months.

Nineteen months later...
I too wish to set up an identity for my EWS account.  Is this possible yet?  I just now purchased the pro key for the sole purpose of setting up an identity for my EWS account, and now it appears this is not supported, despite the advertising.
