Title: Message Notifications
Post by: Swimboy46163 on April 24, 2014, 10:05:48 am
Is it possible to edit what information is shown when a notification happens? Right now it only shows the first couple lines of the message. I want it to display the sender's email and subject. Not text in the email.

On Android 4.1+, notifications about a single message have: sender's image, sender's name (or email if there is no name), subject, a preview of message content, and action buttons. Oh, and the account name below.

I'm talking about what happens when you get a notification and what happens in the status bar.

When a new notification is posted, you should see animated text in the status bar before the notification "settles".

Android calls it "ticker text" and it's not supposed to be long.

Right now Aqua uses the subject if there only one new / unread message. Are you suggesting I include the sender as well?

Yes. Sender and then subject.

You're so fast :)

Ok, I'll make the change, we'll see how other users like it.

Since it's such a trivial change, how about now?

Uh-oh.

Please email the crash log to kmansoft / gmail.

It's a text file called log-AquaMail-crash.txt at the root of the memory card (or the device's "large" built-in memory).

This log does not have any account details or message data (feel free to view before sending).

Thanks, got it.

It's in message list layout code, and it's crashing when breaking two-line message content preview into lines.

Please try this as a workaround:

Start the app without opening a message list, then app settings -> message list -> change "with preview" to 1 line.

Do you have recent messages (that would be displayed in this folder / message list) that have right to left characters (Arabic, Hebrew, Thai, etc.)?

PS - the crash is not at all related to the notification change.

Ah, you must have "Start the app in" set to a particular folder.

Well, are there any messages with right to left text in this account / folder (just trying to guess)?

If there are, would you be able to use web mail to move them to some other folder, then wait for Aqua to do its next scheduled sync?

I will definitely take a look at this tomorrow (it's now past 2am where I live).

I don't think there is at all. That I know of.
