Title: Syncing aquamail and hotmail account
Post by: Chad660 on January 29, 2013, 04:55:28 pm
I have no problem receiving emails on my phone through aqua mail, but i've noticed that when I log onto my email account using the computer, emails that I have read on my phone still appear as unread. Is there any setting that will allow me to read an email on my phone and also have it show them as already read when I log onto the same account on the computer?

Thanks
Chad

You're using IMAP?

Hi,

Chad, sorry, I'm not always able to keep up with forum and emails, it's like drinking from a fire hose...

My app connects to Hotmail using POP3, and POP3 does not support message state synchronization (in either direction). The app has no knowledge of message states (read/unread, starred) in your web mail, and can't propagate them back.

What you see in the app for POP3 is pure heuristics - if we've not downloaded a particular message before, *and* the user is not scrolling down to *see more*, then mark it unread. In the app only.

FWIW, last August MS promised to open IMAP for Hotmail.
