yes, I've read a number of threads on this but I'm stuck. first the basics...
phone - Galaxy S10 (old phone - S6Edge)
os - android v9
aquamail . 1.20.0-1458
steps...
old phone
settings-data storage - backup/restore - select copy to dropbox
result - dropbox : nothing, no backup, no copy / local storage : a 20mb txt file (log-Aquamail.txt)
copied that over to a NAS on my LAN
new phone -
copied txt file to sd-downloads
backup/restore - choose folder

I have four accounts set up and the backup file I last created was 39K (auqamail.accounts.backup). Try saving the backup to local storage rather than dropbox and then copy the backup file between phones.
I don't have dropbox setup so can't test that for you but google drive worked fine and generated a 42K file this time.

I've done this several times and it works. It's easier indeed if you save the backup to a local folder. For some reason it's a pain to restore from cloud.
