Title: Outlook invites (.ics) on Gingerbread and IMAP
Post by: agilevic on June 29, 2014, 12:13:07 am
I have been reading elsewhere on this forum that AguaMail allows to add Outlook invitations to Android calendar. That has not been my experience.

Running on Adroid 2.3 Gingerbread and an IMAP account, Outlook invites appear as a regular message with attachment. Tapping on the attachment icon (diskette) I am getting this message: "No application(s) found to open the attachment whos type is text/calendar. Identified as content://org.kman.AquaMail.datax.attachment/1211.

How to enable the functionality to add invites to caleandar?

AquaMail's support for viewing and accepting calendar is Android 4.0+ only, preferably 4.2+.

There was no stable, documented, official way access to system calendar prior to 4.0, and no way to locate events based on their unique persistent ID prior to 4.2 (this matters when an event is rescheduled).

That's good to know. I am in the market for a new phone and that gives me hope that at last I will have some kind of solution to meeting invites.

Well, new phones typically come with Android 4.something, have not seen any in a store with 2.* in a long time :)
