+ Per-account attachment preload setting for "slow" mobile networks, separate from 3G+.
+ Error notifications (login, network error) can be turned off.
+ Two-panel animation improvements and fixes for 3.0-4.2.

Starting to test it right now. Will give you a feedback soon :-)
But you forgot the setting for embedded images. Could you please add that, too?
So far: Thnx (and waiting for the embedded-images-option) :
Dirk.

Ok. Attachments work great on edge. Yay! ;D
Embedded images are not downloaded automatically. Nay... :-\
-
But you forgot the setting for embedded images. Could you please add that, too?
Oh no - I have been waiting especially for the embedded pictures-automatic-download-thingy, coz' my friend keeps on sending me photos, that ain't attached, but copied and pasted into the mail. Since I am constantly on edge (student, poor, cheapest plan available ;) ) I would really love that feature.
Could you...? Please...? Thanks...? :)
Hugs, Sarah

Already received three attachements and they all loaded smoothly.
-
The embedded images setting does not (and never did) care for the mobile network type....
( rationale - embedded images are typically smaller than attachments )
So, having a setting under 'Embedded images, mobile' will download those on EDGE / GPRS
-
Hi Kostya,
that's strange, because I sent myself a testmail, and the embedded picture was not loaded in the background.
And there is a setting:
Imap, preload / Embedded Pictures, Wifi (up to xx KB per mail)
and
Imap, preload / Embedded Pictures, Mobil (3G+, HSPA, HSPA, HSDPA)
but NON for:
Imap, preload / Embedded Pictures, Mobil (2G, EDGE, GRPS)
So do I understand you correctly, that the embedded pictures-setting for 3G also applies for the 2G-Network?
If so, I will retest again and maybe the embedded pictures were not loaded because of my Anti-Spam-Settings???
:o (*confused*)
Or maybe the picture was larger than the max of 500KB?
Dirk.
-
Yes, an embedded picture smaller than 500KB will be preloaded, a larger picture will only be loaded, when the mail is opened.
Could you - by any chance - raise the max size for the embedded pictures to 2 and 5 MB? That would give a little more headroom. I personally would set it to the same value as my attachements, that is 2 or even 5 MBs.
But having tested 1.2.3.18 throughout the day I can say, that everything works perfectly.
Thank you...
:)
Love,
Dirk.

Ok, fair enough that larger images should preload too.
Wonder if I should make separate settings for embedded images (3G / 2G) or just increase the limits (and let the user kill their battery, if that's what they want :) )?
-
I am usually for drastic solutions. So I would add an option that has the highest probability of heating up the battery to a point at which it will explode and kill the user for a change. Like the battery stating: "You sucker killed me so many times, now I strike back..."
BUT, alas, in that case it is more consistent, if you add a seperate 2G and 3G solution. :'(
So I guess it is best, if you
- added the 2G setting for embedded pictures and
- add an 2MB and 5MB max-download-option to embedded pictures over wifi / 3G /2G.
:)
-
Yes, I'm deeply saddened by the prospects of keeping the settings and the app's behavior logical and consistent... :)
Points taken, suggestions written down, now the code just needs to write itself.
-
Hey Kostya, since I am prolly the only one around here with edge (Except maybe except a few impoverished students ;) ), you may just add the 2MB and 5MB settings to the two existing categories (embedded pictures for Wifi and embedded pictures for mobile)
I would be deeply satisfied with that and I would promise you not to explode or mess with arm-ripping elepants, right?
You got more pressing stuff to do and simply adding those two options is only a matter of seconds, whereas implementing another category is always kind of complex isn't it?
Love,
Dirk.

@dirkliesenfeld, @sarah
This version, 1.2.3.19, has the larger values inline preload... not split into EDGE / 3G yet, though.
