After a few hours is really strange.

What is your AquaMail app version (Menu -> About)?

How many messages do you have the app sync (long press the account -> options and folders -> account options)?

And "cache" (same settings screen)?

Is it a POP3 or IMAP account?

Kostya,

You might be thinking about this scenario already (I am judging from your questions), - but just in case: Is it possible that the hidden message is close to the "boundary" of how many messages are synced (or kept). Then, it goes "beyond" that boundary. But when some messages are deleted, it comes back into the set of messages synced. And that somehow leads to the message showing up as not hidden.

Yes, there is caching and storage and storage trimming involved. Let's see what happens.

Just want to mention that hidden messages are cached in the app (not actual messages, their ID's) for a limited time, about 3 months.

The assumption is that past that, you probably would have received enough new messages for the app to not be running into those previously hidden ones on the server.

No such thing as "storing something forever" on a device with limited storage capacity / performance...

Next issue: for example in my android device in my       inbox there are no messages couse I hide them on the server (but no deleted just hide ) and after few hours especially next day in the morning it appears a number in my inbox (android device ) for example few houndread(number of my messages hidden on the serwer ) but after open inbox there are nothing-it just a number. It happens to all  of my android device folders. It looks like it a refreshes a numbers of messages hidden on the serwer and show that number in folders, but just a number.
Is that ok or an issue? Couse I think that I didnt has it before

I'm  still wondering how do you "hide messages on the server"...?

So I hide messages on the cell phone in folder inbox: number of messages is zero (but keep them on the server), and especially next day the number of messages on my cell phone is not zero but for example a few hundread. But this just a number , in the folder are not any messages. Is that more clear or I need to make a short video clip?

Happens next day?

What if you refresh same day several times, does the number come back?

It would help me to know:

- Account type (IMAP or POP3 or Exchange)

- Long press the account -> options and folders -> account options -> I need "messages to sync" and "messages to cache" settings.

- Actual number of messages on the server

---

The number should not increase like that -- there is code to subtract the "hidden" messages -- and I can't reproduce this bug either.

Yes. I dont know why but it happens usually when I get up in the morning. Of course I asumed that it happens during the night. During the day rather didnt happened or I didnt remebered.
acount: gmail with connected few other acounts, imap
message to sync default 100
cache 100
on serwer I have almost 1000 emails in 3 inbox folders, and about 200 in sent

Please try changing "messages to cache" to 250.

OK.

Did the messages returned in the morning (the app does some trimming / cleaning of what it stores at 3am)

Or did they return after some (later in the day) mail check?

I'm going to try and reproduce this with one of my accounts, please confirm your settings:

- Account is POP3

- Messages to sync at 100

- Messages to cache at 250 (both account level settings)

- You receive how many messages a day, approximately? A few, a dozen, a few dozsen?

- As a rule, you hide most of them in the app?

- Finally, long press the account -> options and folders -> account options -> is "remove deleted messages" turned on or off?

One more thing that would help.

After this happens again, long press the account -> "Diag: message dates" -> run the test to completion, it'll prompt to send me a log file.

Thanks!

So the situation was: it was good for I think one day So I thought its ok and yesterday in the afternoon I realised that I didnt have any messages for a few houres ( I dont know why it wasnt syncing auto) so I checked and synced manually. And after that I got as normally a few new messages and some numbers of messages kept on the serwers returned. So I did the same thing as always in this situation: read the new ones and then marked them all and kept them on the serwer.

config:

Imap, message to sync 100, to cache 250, I got maybe a dozen messages per day smt two dozen, I hide most of them smt I left a few newest on cell phone and of course some I deleted at once, remove deleted messages is on

Interesting...

I am going to set up one of my IMAP accounts in Aqua with same settings (in terms of messages to sync) and hide most of them.

Then we'll see what happens.

( this is definitely weird and very unpleasant )

Are the messages "coming back" -- are they fairly old, say from several days ago, a week ago?

Or let me be more exact -- beyond your "sync 100 most recent" messages?

AND

Are they older than 3 months old or so?

Just to let you know -- I continue looking into this.

Have some ideas I'm checking out, but -- this is a very difficult thing to diagnose, because when it triggers, and flips from "all good" to "wrong" it's too late to try and catch it in the debug log, etc. (as opposed to issues that can be made happen repeatedly, and so can be easily logged).

Sorry but in the meantime I had to downgrade my whole system so Aqua started from my backup.  And about the messages returned: old and present lets say. Now Iam thinking isint it connecting with my cell phone sys couse from about a month Iam using MIUI. Before that I was using different cell phone LG with kitkat and there was ok almost hole time. But has started few months ago on kitkat and then I changed cell for new one my present Xiaomi with Miui and now I got this issue regulary

Now I got this thought. Maybe itsnt an issue. Maybe those returning numbers just show how many messages are on the serwer. Maybe its normal.
