Title: Labels for deletion options
Post by: chumley on July 12, 2018, 08:58:14 pm
This is a very minor thing, but I'll mention it anyway because it continues to stand out to me:

When I expand a new email notification, the option to delete the message is named "TO DELETED". I understand that this is attempting to be explicit and differentiate between "move to deleted" and "delete permanently", but the phase "TO DELETED" just seems unnecessarily verbose and a little ugly. I think it would be simpler and cleaner to just name the option "DELETE". I think most AM users will understand that this will perform whatever delete action they have selected in the settings, i.e. either "move to deleted" or "delete permanently".

And another related very minor thing:

In the settings options related to deleting messages, the move to deleted option is labelled "Move to Deleted folder first". The word "first" is confusing because it implies that some other action will occur later. I think word "first" should be removed.

Thanks

Hello,

Thanks for the comments. I'll start from the bottom up. "Move to Deleted folder first" actually does perform another action afterwards. If we had the space to fit that it would've have been called - "Dove to deleted first, delete from server when purging the deleted folder". So you see the message is stored for a certain amount of time and then can be completely remove from your mailbox.

There are a few ways to set this action. To change it. long press on the account on the home screen -> choose “Options and Folders” -> then “Account options” -> tap “Deleting messages”.

As for your suggestion, I will forward it to the Aqua Mail's Product Manager for further consideration.

In addition to what Nedialko wrote above --

-- the app has three (user configurable) methods for deleting messages. "Move to Deleted" is just one of them although it is the default.

The other two are covered in the FAQ.

When you set the app to use one of those - we change the icons and the text labels as appropriate to clearly and unambiguously communicate which delete method you're using (what'll happen when you tap that icon or button).
