Title: Whats the difference between "Sync (plain folder)" & "Sync as archive"?

For folder options, I have the option to "Sync (plain folder)" and "Sync as archive".  I've searched and searched; but, can't find information on the difference between the two.  I usually use server push for almost all my folders.

Edit:  Also, what option do I set if I want the folder to "push"?
