Hi guys
need some help. Just got an android phone and downloaded aqua mail. I put my hotmail account on it, but when i read an email, it stays as unread on the pc. is there not an option to make it so that when i read my mail on this then it is marked as read on all devices?
Thank you

and also, when i receive an email it doesnt seem to give me a notification immediately unless i go into the app and refresh, and even then, from the home screen the app tile doesnt show a number to indicate i have an email. Are theses features simply not present?

First, Hotmail uses POP3 account. So an email once downloaded to your PC stays there as unread until you read it on your PC, even it was read on your phone. This feature/sync only is available with IMAP.
Second. have you set the sync interval in the general settings? Do not set it below 15 minutes, you will get an error from Hotmail.

Thanks for your help, Thomas.
Spot on about POP3.
MS promised to implement IMAP for Hotmail, this was last August.
I'm hoping to implement EWS (Exchange Web Services) this summer, which should provide folder access for Hotmail...

Hi there, what a fantastic email program. Just found it today, it kicks @ss compared to samsung default email application.
Just wondering what time scales you have for getting hotmail folders working, as your post above ?

The minimum check period has to be 15 minutes. If you go below this time frame Hotmail with give you an error message and close your access for various minutes until the 15 minutes are reached.

Re: the timeline...
The plan is to finish rich text editing (bold, italic, etc.) for ougoing messages, fix a few smaller issues, and make a release. After that I'll be really focusing on Exchange's EWS protocol.
That's not quite a timeline with specific dates, but that's the most accurate I can do now, sorry.

Thank you for working on the update. I just upgraded my default HTC mail app to AquaMail and I love it. All of my accounts run perfect with the exception of Hotmail for the reasons stated above.

Great news, Hotmail now supports IMAP:

Just set up my Hotmail account with IMAP, however it does not support PUSH (tick-box is grayed out - says not supported by server), which is very dissapointing. Is this a limitation of aqua-mail or hotmail? I still get hotmail push from (older) hotmail app, outlook app and stock Samsung galaxy 2 email app.
Thanks in advance for your answers and for the excellent & helpful application!

Hotmail's IMAP server does not support IMAP IDLE (the extension that provides push mail).
The native app can, of course, do whatever it wants, as it can communicate with MS's servers using closed network protocols.
The built-in app I guess uses ActiveSync, which AquaMaill will not support because of licensing complications (device manufacturers have the necessary licenses, though).

I see. Thanks for your answer!
