Title: Changing folder for saving attachments
Post by: pchuber on July 06, 2016, 12:24:37 am
Searching the data base I couldn't find an answer to this issue.  Sorry if it is a repeat.

When I go to "Look and Feel" and scroll down to "Folder for saving attachments," and then select a folder on my SD card I get the error, "This folder doesn't allow the creation of new files.  Please pick another one."  I know the folder does indeed allow the creation of new files.  I am using a Note 4 with Lollipop 5.1.1.

Correct. Blocked since 4.4 actually.

Now what *is* possible is to have the app *cache* (download) attachments to the memory card. This is in app settings -> look and feel.

What is "caching"?

This is where attachments are stored when just "downloaded" and even if you tap one to "open" they remain there.

This is also where the app stores images embedded in message text.

The only thing it doesn't cover is if you long press an attachment to "save" (or choose "save" from the attachment's "three dots" menu).
