+ Workaround for Yahoo's IMAP server having just been broken.
Seems to work maybe for 3/4 of affected accounts.
If it doesn't work for you, please update to 1.5.1.15-y1 (right here in Development Builds, one level up).

+ Обход проблемы с внезапно сломанным IMAP сервером Yahoo.
Помогает примерно в 3/4 случаев.
Если Вам не помогло, установите 1.5.1.15-y1 (здесь же, в Development Builds).

Hey Kostya,
Thanks! The Yahoo workaround in this update is working in my case. The sync working fine now.

And just for the record -- I investigated why K9 is not affected -- it doesn't ask the server for the list of all unread messages -- so the "unread count" is only among those messages that it keeps up to date, the default is 25 newest per folder.
If you mark, say, 3 recent messages and 3 old messages (in web mail) as unread, then the unread count in K9 will be 3, not 6.
So if someone receives a bunch (more than 25) new unread messages, then he/she won't know to scroll the message list down to see all of them...

Oh my, car metaphors! :)
I've never had a Corolla :) (but then never had a Ferrari either).

1.5.1.13 is now in Google Play at 100% general availability.
Will take a few hours to reach actual devices.

Yahoo users: If you had this issue and 1.5.1.13 fixed it for you, could you post a review in Google Play :) -- to counter the "app stopped working with Yahoo" negativity that's building up there.
( is "karma whore" the right expression here? )

I may be drunk here, but since 1.5.1.13, Aquamail has been the top battery eater, even over my screen. I don't use Yahoo mail either. Anyone else seeing this or is it just me?
-
Yes, that's where I got my info from.
It happened several days in a row where AM was at the top. Will post a screenshot if it reoccurs.

@mattlehrer
I believe what you're seeing, but would like to have some numbers... Total time on battery power, % and "keep awake" from Aqua.
Common reasons for high battery use:
- Slow network (GPRS or EDGE, naturally)
- Frequent network disconnects and/or switching (mobile / WiFi)
- Large number of accounts / folders set to sync
- Large number of accounts / folders in push mail (more than 3-5 is potentially trouble territory)
- Large "messages to sync" settings (per account, default is 25... 250 is sort of ok still, but say 1000, on mobile can be too much...)
- Short mail sync interval (default is every 15 minutes)
And then you have "combos", for example: mail sync interval at 5 minutes, and "messages to sync" at 1000, in say 5 accounts having 5 folders each.....
Could be something on my side too, of course -- but just wanted to give you some ideas for things to check.

I can not confirm

It wasn't too bad for me today. Although I've probably only received 5 emails today. I'm on 5 min sync, have always had it set up like this for my only account using EWS. I'm guessing my carrier is having data issues.
Here are today's stats:
-
5 minute sync will use the battery about 3 times more than 15 minutes sync.
Yes, I know that some people need to get their messages quickly, so I'm just stating the obvious, nothing more.
