Just got my upgrade to Oreo, but now missing lockscreen notifications. With android 7 the lock screen would display a preview of a new email.
Now, when anew email isn't received the lockscreen illuminates but there's no preview or anything from aquamarine - just my weather app notification.
Is this android or aquamail playing up?

Not seeing any issues with that on my Nexus 8x (Android 8.1 beta and previously 8.0 official).
Some devices have "advanced" notification settings, to "allow lock screen notifications", think I've seen this on a Samsung. This would be in phone Settings -> Apps -> Aqua Mail -> Notifications.
PS - I assume you do get Aqua's notifications in the phone's status bar?

I've checked the notifications settings and lock screen notification and Aqua Mail is set to "Show all notification content".
It's an interesting problem as some part of the the notification is getting through - which is why the persistent weather app content pops up - but nothing from Aqua Mail.
Don't worry, it won't stop me using and recommending the best email app - just wish there was a Windows version for my laptop

Just to be clear - I get the status bar notification, and the same symbol appears on the lock screen on "pick up" wake. But when an email arrives there is no notification - except the weather pop up.

Sorry you confused me even more.
"the same symbol appears on the lock screen" vs "there is no notification" ???
And to be clear - there is no such thing in Android as "lock screen notifications" from an app's point of view. There are just "notifications" and Android takes care of displaying them in the
1) status area 2) on the lock screen if appropriate (by whatever logic it uses) 3) on Android Wear watches
( aside: I get Aqua's notifications on the lock screen on every one of my devices, including a Samsung S8 with 7.0 and a Nexus 5x with 8.1 )

Sorry for the confusion. A bit of investigation and I realise the problem is an Android 8.0 issue.
Thanks for your help.

Does OnePlus have a "special" setting to allow notifications on the lock screen?

Not that I can find, just a setting to allow "content" on the lockscreen.

Re: Not that I can find, just a setting to allow "content" on the lockscreen.
Maybe try that?
I'll say it again - in terms of how Android (and our app) works, there is no such thing as a "lock screen notification".
There are only "notifications" which Android displays in the status line area (top of the screen) and on the lock screen (and say on Wear watches).
You do get notifications from Aqua in the status bar area, right?
I'd perhaps try asking on One Plus support forums (I don't own any of these devices and so don't know any "finer points" of their software).

I love your email app and I describe myself as a non-technical user. With notifications, can you tell me if you're planning on showing on the lock screen emails as they come in singly, rather than as a list so I can delete, archive, etc. from the lock screen? This would be more convenient than opening the app each time to do something.
-
Aqua Mail's notifications already have action buttons - but they only show if a notification is "about" fewer than 5 messages. It wouldn't make sense to allow the user to delete messages that he/she can't preview in the notification ("delete 25 messages who knows what they are").
Two things you can do:
- Mark your old messages as read, using Aqua Mail (open a folder -> menu -> mark read) or web mail
- Or set Aqua to notify you about "new unread" not "all unread" messages, this is in app settings -> message notifications.
In addition, if the phone runs Android 7 or newer, you can enable app settings -> message notifications -> smart watch enhancements, and then ...
... you'll be able to "pull apart" (vertically) Aqua Mail's notifications and see individual "cards", one per message, each with its own action buttons (but you will lose actions buttons on the overall notification, an Android limitation).
Also worth mentioning - lock screen notifications are not a "separate thing", they're just same "notifications" that Android displays in two places, in the status bar and on the lock screen (and a third place, an Android Wear smart watch if you use one).

Thanks Kostya. This helped immensely. Can you tell me if you have plans to provide an option for the smartwatch option to not have to "confirm deletion" of an email. I'd like to save that step and just delete it from the notification action.
-
RE: if you have plans to provide an option for the smartwatch option to not have to "confirm deletion" of an email
It follows the "confirm" checkbox in app settings (under "confirmations and undo"). Note that this will affect deleting from on-phone notifications too.
-
Thanks again. Great you have so many options I'll have to go through more of them to see what else is available :)

Hi,
have also the problem on my Nexus 5X with Android 8 Oreo.
With the Gmail App, i see a short notification, if a new mail is coming in.
With Aqua Mail there is no short notification infos and no notification led.
If i switch the power button thne i can see the message notification, but no automaticly info by incoming.
How can i activate this on Oreo?
I have activated the function in the app administration.
But no Info :(
What can i do?

Are you saying Aqua Mail does not check mail?
Or does?
And does not post notifications?
If it's missing lock screen notifications -> does it show "regular" (top of unlocked screen) notifications?
Those are actually one and the same, apps post "regular" notifications and Andorid "mirrors" them to the lock screen.
( no such issue on my Nexus 5x with 8.1 beta )
-
all works perfect :)
only i have no notifications lock screen, i dont know why?
-
If you get "regular" notifications - then Aqua is working fine and lock screen notifications specifically are blocked by "something else".
Some sort of *pone* setting.
Maybe this?

I think I have narrowed the problem,
notification works, but one one time.
If i read all my mails, and then a new mail arrives, notification work.
But only this one time, if then comes a new mail, no more notification displays.
Read or delete i then all mails, it works again one time.
Are there any setting, so that i become a notification every time?
THANKS!

Hi all
I have been experiencing same issues as everyone with Samsung Galaxy S9 with lack of notifications, and got around problem using the widget.
However, I think I stumbled on a solution by accident, I was removing Icons from home screen for apps rarely used, and occidentally deleted the Aquamail icon short cut (1 of 5 at base of home screen) as I was distracted not looking what I was doing.
I read forums and I saw there was a new build Version 1.15.0-872-dev, so I updated to this.
After the update, I went into apps and added the Aquamail Icon back, and somehow it is all working again
Shows all the unread emails (New unread in my case).
Only odd thing is that my draft emails seem to have disappeared, it shows the total number, but only a few show. Previously it showed all draft emails
-
Hmm, we didn't make any changes to notifications code in 1.15 (compared to 1.14)
Re: drafts
Please check that the app's Drafts folder is properly set to "point to" the right server folder.
- Long press on the account on the app's main screen
- Options and folders -> Folders
- Let it refresh (maybe 10 seconds)
- Find the Drafts folder (for Gmail accounts this would be under [Gmail[)
- Tap its name, choose "Sync with Drafts"
