YEA!!! Thanks Koysta and the AM Team.
However, I just download from that link and the installed version shows 1.16.0-1134-dev.

Re: However, I just download from that link and the installed version shows 1.16.0-1134-dev.
Something failed - probably failed to installed.
The build is 1167 (it's in the filename too) and I just tried downloading and installing - it worked fine.

Very odd. I had been running 1.15.0-916-stable. Today I downloaded and installed 1-16-0.1167-stable and for whatever reason, I wound up with 1134-dev installed. I -did- install 1134 when it first came out and removed it in favor of 916 due to the (lack of) solid account list colors. Now I uninstalled 916 and tried 1167 again and then restored my settings and accounts and all is well.
Thanks again for listening to your public and restoring the account list colors.

An option to choose would be better, right?

yes, i am very sure :)

Thanks to the team, especially to the designer @Ipetkov for bringing back the 'lost' account colors. 8)
BTW:
I appreciated the small colored border to the left of each folder, which came first with build 1.16.0.1140-dev :)

Re: I appreciated the small colored border to the left of each folder, which came first with build 1.16.0.1140-dev :)
We got complaints that "the new design" (of account colors) completely lost its practical purpose.
And so were restored "the old design" (of account colors).
Until doing that - today - there wasn't any feedback like "oh please bring back old solid colors but keep folder bands", it was all like "color bands bad, solid fill good".
And so here it is - back to solid fill. Practical aspect of account colors - restored.
-
Understand.
Though, ... I can't find any complaints about "new color bands are bad" - at least not here in the forum :D -, but "we miss the solid account colors, please bring them back".
However, a few more opinions from other users would certainly be very helpful.
-
Re: Oh yes, there was (implicitly). I'll post the link again.
Yes and there were other ideas too, like color icons (refresh / expand).
Overall though - the "consensus" was that "color bars just aren't visible enough, solid fill was" - so we restored solid fill.
Anyone happy? Anyone at all? No?
Was this all for nothing?
-
Yes sure there is always room for improvement - absolutely.
However the one change we just made - and this is based on user feedback, not just here on the forum but also to our support email account (from the Google Play "beta") -
- We restored "solid fill" for "account colors"
because
- "Your new color bars are not enough"
Yes there were other changes in the design update:
Smaller font size for account names, better alignment of various elements, icons on all folder types, refresh / expand icons switched sides, maybe others I'm forgetting.
Overall those other changes - and "the big picture" - didn't cause any complaints, the opposite in fact, seems like most users liked them.
But on this one specific thing (account colors) we had nothing but complaints. If anyone liked "color bars" - they didn't speak up.
And so based on the feedback we *had* (as opposed to "might have had but didn't") - we changed back to solid color fill.
-
急需改进,不断完善,不错的。
:) :) :) :)

I don't like this bubble gum look.
I prefer to have either or both the refresh icon and account name in color.
This would look much nicer and be visible yet not knock you over the head.

RE: I don't like this bubble gum look
The choice of colors is completely configurable and therefore the responsibility of the user.
As for account name colors, this would not work:
The font must be readable with all available themes and that is very unfavorable, especially with lighter colors.
With a colored background and black text, the readability is much better.

Kostya:
Please don't missunderstand our suggestion "Keep the (new) color bands to the left of each folder" as if all implemented changes wouldn't be not good enough.
The feedback here in the forum (Of course, I don't know the statements from the Play Store or to your support email account) was consistently positive regarding the new UI adjustments - with one single exception: "Please bring back the account's background color" -.
However, nobody has ever asked to replace the color bands, but "Make the account's background color available again" (additionally).
In order to "make everyone happy" (especially to avoid "bubble gum look" 8) as stated by @binser), we (@Paris Geek + me) had always recommended to implement this as an option - as an extension of the (new) color bands - "Use the assigned color for the account's background".

etc.
Advantage:
The view could (should?) be harmonized with the way as conversations are showed already.

Has anyone noticed an earlier very constructive statement from @binser?

Um, not sure we need even more settings...
yes, i am very sure :)
I have to agree -- AquaMail already has more options than most similar applications (has anybody ever counted exactly how many user configurable options there are? There 27 high level entries that I can see, but I don't have the energy to drill down any further). However, on issues which divide users (such as the coloured bands, or my personal bête noire, reflow on zoom) there is a huge reluctance to add additional options.
While I understand the desire not to complicate the user interface further, how about having an "Advanced Settings" category, where most users won't ever venture, but those of us who really care about our mail client could find these additional options?

Democracy is often exchanged with anarchy. I'm sorry ! The majority is not always right.
The new look was much better than what has now been restored, more
modern, more ..... nice !!
For the first time I used the colors, with the "new look" now that it has been restored
the old I do not like it anymore !!

I have had this issue for the past few betas - some 2-3 weeks now. Sorry for not mentioning that until now.
Frequently, when I view a message, some lines are "scrunched" together and not visible (see the first screen shot). If, within the message I go to view, revert auto fit, it is corrected (second screen shot). Sometime if I scroll the message up and down it will help, but not always.
Please let me know if there is anything more that I can provide to help troubleshoot.

Re: However, nobody has ever asked to replace the color bands, but "Make the account's background color available again" (additionally).
Yes I know there were several messages where people enjoyed playing designers - e.g. the idea with using color icons (which would not work).
Overall however the tone was - "ugh, bars just don't work" and so, lacking any alternative designs, we restored how account colors were presented before (which caused no complaints).
Re: (...my personal bête noire, reflow on zoom) there is a huge reluctance to add additional options
In this particular case, "just adding a checkbox" wouldn't be enough.
It would have to "do something" and we have trouble making that "something" work - for reasons already explained a dozen times or more.
Can you accept that as time passes, things can change?
Oh and in 2018, most of your emails should be "mobile optimized".
Re: For the first time I used the colors, with the "new look" now that it has been restored the old I do not like it anymore
We had nothing but complaints about color bars.
If anyone liked color bars better than solid color fill - we did not hear from them (and apparently this includes you).
But I'll say it again - account colors are optional and off by default.
----
Oh and let's not forget - this "screen" also received a fairly significant design update.
And it seems to me that overall it's seen as an improvement.
Right?
So let's say 9 our of 10 things (or 11 / 12, or 15/16) on that screen are "good" not "bad"?

Yes had a few reports.
Most are from Xiaomi devices. One or two from Huawei.
I think this is cause by "something Google did" - in Chrome or WebView which we use to render message text.
Since this is "not us" - at this time we're only monitoring.

Thanks for the quick response. My device is an LG L5. I am using the Fulmics ROM, which is rooted based upon stock Nougat. Actually I don't notice this behavior anywhere other that Aqua Mail. If I look at the same message in gmail, it is fine (not sure if that is relevant or not). Just thought I would mention it.
-
Re: I don't notice this behavior anywhere other that Aqua Mail.
This issue started about two weeks ago and did not exist in 5 years prior to that.
I am not able to reproduce it on any of my phones - Android 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 8.1 - even using exact .eml samples sent by affected users.
It's possible that we're accidentally triggering "something" in recent versions of Chrome / WebView, but at this point we don't know what it is.
And so, we're monitoring as that's all we can do at this point.
---
Just to give you an idea of what kinds of things happen...
For about 6 months we've been getting sporadic but regular reports that "there is no send icon on the app's compose screen".
Only from users running Android 8. We were not able to reproduce despite trying and trying.
Here is what it turned out to be.
https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/78087300
Android would just skip a piece of our code - i.e. not execute what was written.
-
I know that you provide great support, and was not meaning to be critical in the least. I wanted to bring it to your attention, but can certainly live with it in the meantime. Sorry if I came across any differently - I didn't mean it.

Um no I didn't take it that way - and sorry if it seemed like I did - I did not.
Just saying that:
This can have its root cause "somewhere else" but we're somehow "fortunate" to be triggering it (in some cases, on some messages, for some users on some devices).
And so we don't have anything to "fix" at this time and are monitoring and hoping to learn more (with time).

- Changing the side of "spinning wheels": nice to look at, but an issue for those with small thumbs (if they use the right hand). The "^" adds nothing in features (to develop the account, one can tap on the account band), and now it's hard to reach the "refresh" button (the "spinning wheel". See attached picture with area covered by my thumb, and how those spinning wheels are out of reach now.
THIS!!
+1
Simply tapping the account name will expand or collapse the folders therein. As Paris Geek states, the "^" is unnecessary. Especially if removing it provides enough room for the refresh wheel to be moved back to the right side.
-
测试这么久啊,还没稳定版
-
Thanks A LOT for solid colors which are back! Much appreciated.
-
The developer can add a "Refresh" option in account menu (the one that opens with long press on account name) if the refresh wheel position is not changed.
The account list view has "pull to refresh" (and has had for a long time).
Yes it does "all" accounts not a specific account - but it's there.
The "^" adds nothing in features
It adds a visual indication of whether an account is expanded or collapsed.
