Hi all,
We added a separate setting and you can now disable crash reporting. The version is a available on Play Store as beta.
Excuse us for the delayed reply.

Hi, I tried this beta version. I disabled crash reports.
But connections are still there, different than before:
firebase-settings.crashlytics.com
firebaseinstallations.googleapis.com
-
Same here...

@Nadejda Fudulska, MobiSystems, AquaMail support
You offered a beta version 6 days ago.
Usually developers expect feedback. I tested and gave a factual feedback.
Unfortunately I can't see if they are working on it or if my feedback was noticed at all.
Usually the communication is different than here with Mobisystems. Slowly I understand more and more the websites and people on Reddit and elsewhere who write against AquaMail.
Why a beta version if there is no communication about it?

What can I say.
This is terrible customer service and interaction.

Hi,
Here is the latest version of Aqua Mail where hopefully the problem should be fixed. You can download it from here
https://www.aqua-mail.com/download/AquaMail-market-1.25.2-1661-beta-4596a7a7f.apk
Thank you for your patience,
Nadia

Hi, thanks.
Unfortunately it's not fixed, see screenshot. Several unwanted connections.
Did you test this version by yourself? I got the result after few minutes.
-
Just noticed the other one again, so we have still those connections, which I mentioned above:
firebase-settings.crashlytics.com
firebaseinstallations.googleapis.com
Could you please fix it? Or remove it completely?
I suppose: If Aquamail crashes you will get logcats manually sent by users.

Hi Justin,
We are still fighting to resolve this issue and stop any unnecessary requests.
Firebase Crashlytics is Google service and we have contacted them about this matter, currently we are in the waiting for their response.
I have inspected the requests and I can see no tracking data in it. It's just data about the app like package name, version etc.
Seems like these requests are only executed on upgrade of the app, at least this is how we could reproduce it.
We are still working on that, so please hang on with us a little longer.
Thanks,
Anton.

@Anton
Thank you for the information on the interim status.

False, every time, when app is starting/started, it connects to firebase-settings.crashlytics.com
-
I can confirm what @ksuuk said.
To reproduce quickly: Just force stop Aquamail (via App-Info), then start again.

Just installed 1.25.2-1666 and like before, AdGuard detects trackers:
firebase-settings.crashlytics.com
firebaseinstallations.googleapis.com

I'm still not sure how you got adguard to show you that per app. However those two hosts names are for reporting when an app crashes. One is for the Google API to report the crash and the other is the actual reporting side.
Since it is a Google API and the developer has said they have reached out to Google for assistance please be patient.
I have reported a few bugs in the past with no response but yet they have fixed it. So there is no reason to continue to hound the developer until they have released an update where they have claimed to have fixed it again. Or just use adgaurd to block those two hosts.
-
Hi,
I'm not able to reproduce it on every start of the app.
I can only see a request after I erase app memory and start it for the first time.
Maybe if you blocked that request with AdGuard it is trying on next start as well.
We are still waiting on explanation from Google...
Thanks,
Anton.

What about the GIF bug? Unable to post GIF images from SwiftKey or Gboard into composer.

Chris, you are asking questions that you don’t get an intelligible answer to. In fact, aquamail is dead. He lives at the present time by what Kostya has done and they have not done anything new and will never do.
It's funny to talk about some new functionality if the developers announce in the what's new section that they have removed one ad network and added another. What else can you expect from this approach. It's a pity, it was the best email client for android. Mobisystems can be congratulated on destroying a great program. They got their way.

As I have said before the Google API is not a add Tracker. It is a crash tracker even Mobisystems has told you that. The api has been misbehaving and that's why they where reaching out to Google. If you would research the host request you would realize that. Plus the Mobisystems rep also said that you could block the host and it wouldn't effect its usage. If your using a host blocking software on your phone or network what do you care.
Aquamail has received more updates then most email programs including your precious fairemail (which has a clunky outdated interface and small font). There was even a plan to add to PGP or s/mime support (based on a previous survey). Aquamail isn't dead you're just impatient for what takes time to program.

Any news on this?
(I'm actually not using your beta versions)
Those unwanted connections happen daily several times.
