Not seeing new messages

This has happened a few times now, but not often.  Aqua is resolutely telling me "no mail".  BUT: when I look with a different client there are plenty of messages.   Any idea why Aqua can't see a bunch of messages sitting on the server in my inbox?

I am also noticing this happening with me too quiet often.

Help is appreciated.
