Custom Check Interval
« on: January 19, 2017, 08:29:45 pm »
Anyone know how I can push messages received quicker than 1/minute? The Custom Check Interval seems to have a minimal limit to '1 minute'.

Dont ask why I need this. I just do. :)

Thank you!

Enable "push" notifications. If properly supported by your provider's IMAP or EWS (paid Aquamail version)  server, PUSH will provide notifications within seconds from the message arriving to that server.

Caveats:
1. Some recent Android versions and some  manufacturer-specific extensionsextens can interfere with that. See the FAQ for detail.
2. You will encounter higher battery and data consumption.

Do not mix up "Push notifications" which comes up within seconds after a new message arrived to the server (= your mail service provider) and AquaMail's "Schedule sync" (mail check interval).

Synchronisation means: make the changes that occurred on server side (delete, update, reply, star, read, etc.) available on device (client) side, and conversely. Sync is a scheduled process (event based and/or time based). I strongly recommend leaving this setting at the default (every 15 minutes): less battery drain and lower data usage!

So Push and Sync are not the same thing. The great advantage of AquaMail is to propose them separately, up to you to select one of them or both.

Yes, "1 minute intervals" won't work -- I mean if you enable them, the app will try to schedule mail checks like that, but any recent Android version won't let it do that.

And yes, it would be best to use push mail and keep "scheduled mail checks" at the default "every 15 minutes".

Thanks very much for everyone who replied.

I have push enabled in the general mail settings. I was trying to ensure that I get anything sent to my server on one email account instantly. So the push is supposed to do that, I understand, not the sync so much. OK. Hoping the functionality of the push is as described, would be perfect.

Thanks again very much.

Please check your settings for 'Push' as follows:

1 - On app's level
> Menu button > Settings > Mail, receiving:
Push mail: enabled

2 - On account level
> long press on account name > Options and folders > Account options:
Push mail: enabled [disabled by default]

3 - On folder level
> long press on account name > Options and folders > Folders > press the wheel of the folder where you want to get push notifications (e.g. Inbox):
check 'Use Push mail'

Please have a look into the app's FAQ-page:
